Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows Sculpting Gel Review

Wednesday, June 07, 2017

You all know by now I'm sure that I love most of Charlotte Tilbury's makeup products, so when her brow range was released I couldn't wait to give it a go. This is one of the brow products, a clear gel for taming brows, is it as good as I expected?

The Legendary Brows Sculpting Gel comes in several colours, so it can work like the famous Benefit Gimme Brow. Unfortunately I only have the clear gel to review today, I really hope I can try one of the tinted ones in future!
Packaging
Just like other Charlotte Tilbury products it has a luxurious packaging with burgundy lettering over golden casing, very glamorous and retro in a way.
This product also has some eyes drawn on the tube which I find really pretty and a change from her usual styling.

The best thing about this product is the size of the brush! The wand is quite long and needed some getting used to but the applicator is tiny which is brilliant for those of us with sparse brows!
Other gels come with massive spools (I'm thinking of the Rimmel one) so it makes it almost impossible to use but this one allows you to be precise!
Formula
Apparently the formula is what makes the product so good as it contains "Magic Elasticizing Wax" which set the brows without making them look sticky or hard. It still has flexibility so the hairs will look natural.

It contains castor oil to help encourage hair growth and strengthen the brows and also vitamin E to nourish the hairs. In time the brows should look thicker and more voluminous with use.
Use and Effect
The miniature brush is perfect to use with any brow size, even sparse ones like mine. You use the spooly to brush upwards and then the tip to define the end of the brow.

Unfortunately I quickly noticed that it doesn't seem to apply any product at all so I didn't find that it was taming my brows in any way (and mine aren't very wild to begin with!)
I'm not sure if it's an issue with the formula or if it just doesn't pick up enough product, but the fact is that I don't notice much of a difference wether I use this brow gel or not!

Overall
I really wanted to love this clear gel but I'm afraid it doesn't seem to do much at all! Perhaps I would prefer the coloured brow gels from her range, as the brush is small enough to do a great job, but I haven't been impressed by the clear gel.

At £18.50 it isn't cheap either, but perhaps the coloured ones are amazing, I would love to try them and compare!
Do you use clear brow gel?
