Finish 10 Beauty Products by New Year UPDATE

Wednesday, January 07, 2015

I set myself quite the challenge on the 30th of November: I chose 10 makeup and beauty products that I'd try to finish for the New Year. Now it's time to see how I got on with my challenge!
As soon as I posted the challenge I was a bit worried because there were quite a few products which would be hard to finish. I was particularly afraid I wouldn't be able to finish two lipsticks and the mineralized skin finish seemed to last a long time specially as I was using it as a highlighter.

I have to say that in this occasion I didn't enjoy having to rotate heavily those two lipsticks, I really felt like wearing dark shades and reds for winter and I had chosen two light shades. As for the rest of the products, I didn't mind using them daily as they were skincare or makeup items I could easily use frequently.

Now let's take a look at what I finished and what I wasn't able to!

Finished Makeup Products

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait: This one was quick to finish because the texture is really creamy, it isn't long lasting and there isn't that much in the tube.

- Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner mini: I thought this one would last longer but it was quite dry and then it reached the point where I'd twist the bottom and nothing would come out.

- MAC Angel lipstick: I really didn't think I'd be able to finish this lipstick but in the end I was victorious. I had a love-hate with this lipstick because I love the colour but not always the finish because it enhances my lips if they aren't in perfect condition.

Finished Beauty and Skincare Products

Soap & Glory Hand Food: This is a great hand cream which absorbs quickly and smells sweet. It's been a pleasure to use and I wouldn't mind purchasing again.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extra Refreshing Eye Gel: This is a lovely refreshing eye gel and there was still a lot left. I used it in the morning and at nights and was able to get through it.

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue: This is a refreshing scent which I bought incredibly reduced and I finished quite quickly.

- Glamglow Youthmud: I thought I'd finish this really quickly but I actually used it another four times before I ran out. It's an amazing product and I've already got a replacement.

Almost Finished Products:

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Adored: You could almost say I've finished this but there's still a very small amount in the corners. I'll be finishing it this week probably.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF20: I still haven't finished this, there's probably a weeks worth left. I like it but much prefer the Rodial balm for day and the Nuxe Reve de Miel for the night.

Urban Decay Primer Potion: This is never-ending. I mean, seriously, I am still able to squeeze product out. I have no idea when this magical potion will end! No complaints though, I really love it!

I think I've done a pretty amazing job if I may say so myself. I didn't expect to do so well at all and now I have quite a few products for my next empties video. I don't think I'll be doing another challenge for a while as I want to use whatever product I wish to for some time, haha!

I really hope you are inspired by challenges like these, I think they're a brilliant way to go through our stash and actually finish things!
