Polished Look for Spring

Tuesday, April 07, 2015

I thought I'd share with you a look which I like to use when I want to look polished but not over the top. It's a look I keep for serious events, although depending on the shade of lipstick it can look brighter or more minimal.

I'm afraid I'm going to be featuring two limited edition items. I can't help but show them because I use them a lot and perhaps you can still get your hands on them or you have them yourself and haven't been inspired to use them lately.
Base

For a polished look which is still natural and glowing I like to use the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. Shade 3 matches me perfectly and it's silky on the skin and very beautiful.

As it doesn't quite last too long on my oily skin I have set it today with the Chanel Les Beiges Multicolour powder. I thought I'd use each colour separately when I bought it, but I usually use it to set my concealer and as a finishing powder. It isn't too pigmented, so don't worry about looking pink!

Lately I've been using the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer, I love it if my under-eye are is hydrated, if not it creases quite badly, so it can depend on the day sometimes. Less is more with this concealer!
Eyes

For some reason I have felt the need to double prime today. Let me explain why: the MAC Paintpot in Painterly is great as an eyeshadow base to make the shadows adhere and pop, but it creases really badly on me. That's why I've applied the NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eye Base, this is an absolutely brilliant primer.

The eyeshadow palette I have used today is limited edition unfortunately, it's by Chanel and was part of the 2013 Holiday collection. The Chanel Ombres Matelasees Charming is a gorgeous set of neutral eyeshadows and they're mostly matte except the middle sparkly bronze shadow. They blend like a dream and it's very flattering.

I used the lovely Benefit Roller Lash mascara, which you can read about and see in my full review. It's just so easy to use and gives mega curly lashes.

Brows

I need to sort out my brows as I haven't paid much attention to them recently. Today I've filled them in with the Hourglass Brow Arch Sculpt and set with the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.
Lips and Cheeks

If I change the lipstick and blush of choice the look would be completely different. As it's sunny I've gone for a warm bronzy pink with the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush in Sex on Fire. This is possibly one of my favourite blushes, so smooth and natural, it's gorgeous!

As for lips I've gone for the Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense in Seduisante which I reviewed last week. The formula is lovely and it's a nice pink which looks lovely all year round and brightens my face nicely.

Finished Look

It's a lovely look for everyday or for an important event if you want to look polished. The face and eyes are mostly matte with some glow thanks to the blush and one shade of eyeshadow. The lipstick is luminous and makes the whole look light and appropriate for spring.

What look do you go for when you want to look polished?
