Nuxe Reve de Miel Review : the Best Lip Balm Ever

Friday, May 22, 2015

My lips are usually really dry and flakey, a lot of lipsticks look terrible on my chapped lips and many people comment on that. I have also tried several different balms, but today I'm going to show you my holy grail of the ones I have tried until now.

Nuxe is a French pharmacy brand which has a lot of nice skincare products. I had heard that this little pot was magic for the lips, so I had to give it a go!
In theory this has been tested in some of the coldest climates in Canada and performed well in 96% of the people, apparently one is sold every 28 seconds which is really impressive!
Packaging
It comes in a small frosted jar with a white lid, it's actually very pretty. I have to say that many people don't like putting their fingers in a jar to take out lip balm, but I think I'll forgive this because the product is really good!

I think they also have it in the shape of a lipstick bullet, but I've read it isn't as good, so I went for the little pot. You get 15 grammes of product, and it will last you a very long time, specially as you don't need much.

Ingredients
As the name suggests, it contains honey, but it also has plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence. The honey gives the balm a characteristic scent so if this bothers you, you may not like it.
Nuxe sponsors beehives to help protect bees and they have reduced the amount of paper they use, which is always a good thing.

Texture
The texture of this balm is completely different to others I've tried: it's very thick and waxy and it seems very hard in the pot. But once you apply it on the lips it melts with the warmth and leaves a thick layer on the lips.

The finish is matte on the lips, which is great if you want to use it before a matte lipstick, because you'll get the hydration without the shine. On the other hand the very thick consistency might feel heavy on the lips to wear during the day, so you may prefer to keep it for the night.
Effect
The most amazing thing about the Nuxe Reve de Miel is the effect on the lips. I have never seen anything like it: you apply it at night and when you wake up in the morning you can still feel it on the lips.
Whenever my lips are dry I can count on this thick waxy balm to moisturize my lips, it always works its magic. Other balms I've tried seem to disappear after some minutes, but this one feels soothing on the lips hours later.

Overall
This is definitely one of my holy grail products and I really suggest you give this a try. You can buy it in Space NK for £9.50 and though it may seem pricey it's well worth the price and it'll last you a very on time as you only need a very small amount!

I am very curious to try some of the other high end lip balms such as By Terry Baume de Rose and Dior Creme de Rose balm to see if they're really much better than this one. I have the feeling that those are probably more luxurious but this one has works at a much more affordable price!

Which is your favourite lip balm?
